Welcome to the Automated Labor Analysis System (ALAS), a cutting-edge solution designed to automate labor time studies using AI-powered video analysis. ALAS minimizes manual tracking, improves accuracy, and provides actionable insights to optimize operations.

This guide will walk you through the initial setup, video upload process, analysis configuration, and essential system features.

System Requirements

  • Browser Compatibility: Chrome, Firefox, Edge (latest versions)
  • Internet Connection: Broadband connection (5+ Mbps recommended)
  • User Access: Valid login credentials provided by your system administrator
  • Video Requirements: Refer to the Data Collection guide for detailed specifications

Getting Started Steps

1. Accessing ALAS

  • Open your web browser and navigate to the ALAS platform URL
  • Enter your username and password in the login screen
  • The system will direct you to the main dashboard upon successful login

2. Navigating the Interface

  • Dashboard: The central hub showing summary statistics and recent videos
  • Navigation Menu: Located on the left side of the screen
    • Videos: Upload and manage video files
    • Operations: Configure reference data for operators, modules, and orders
    • Documentation: Access system documentation (you are here!)
    • Settings: Configure user preferences and system parameters
  • User Profile: Access your account settings via the user icon in the bottom-left

3. Uploading a Video for Analysis

  • Click the Upload Video button in the Unprocessed Videos section
  • Select a video file from your computer (supported formats: .mp4, .avi, .mov)
  • Wait for the upload to complete (a progress bar will display the status)
  • Once uploaded, the video will appear in the Unprocessed Videos table

4. Providing Analysis Details

  • In the Unprocessed Videos table, click on the video you just uploaded
  • Complete the form with the following information:
    • Activities to Track: Define the specific labor activities to analyze
    • ROI Definitions: Set up Regions of Interest that delineate activity zones
    • Operator: Select or create the operator associated with the video
    • Module: Choose the module under which the video falls
    • Order: Specify the order number or identifier
    • Date: Enter the recording date
    • Start Time: Input the start time of the recording
    • Subsections: Specify any segments or sections to analyze separately
    • Belt Dimensions: Enter length, width, and other relevant measurements
  • Review all information for accuracy
  • Click Submit for Processing to initiate the analysis

5. Video Analysis and Results

  • The backend AI processes the video using the provided details
  • A notification will appear when processing is complete
  • The processed video will move to the Processed Videos section
  • Click on the processed video to view detailed analysis results:
    • Activity timelines and durations
    • Efficiency metrics and comparisons
    • Heat maps of activity zones
    • Downloadable reports in Excel format

Managing Reference Data

ALAS includes specialized modules to maintain your reference data:

Operators Management

  • Navigate to Operations > Operators in the main menu
  • View existing operators in a sortable, searchable table
  • Add New Operator:
    • Click the "Add Operator" button
    • Enter name, ID, skill level, and other relevant details
    • Click "Save" to add to the database
  • Edit Operator: Select an operator and click "Edit" to modify details
  • Delete Operator: Select an operator and click "Delete" (if not referenced in videos)

Orders Management

  • Navigate to Operations > Orders in the main menu
  • View existing orders with filtering and search capabilities
  • Add New Order:
    • Click "Add Order"
    • Enter order number, customer, product details, and dates
    • Click "Save" to create the order
  • Update Order Status: Select an order and choose the new status
  • Link Videos to Orders: Associate uploaded videos with specific orders

Modules Management

  • Navigate to Operations > Modules in the main menu
  • View all registered modules and their details
  • Add New Module:
    • Click "Add Module"
    • Enter module name, type, and specifications
    • Click "Save" to add to the database
  • Edit Module Details: Select a module and update its information
  • Archive Inactive Modules: Mark modules as inactive without deletion
